Supreme Irony
The two National Guard troops shot and critically wounded in D.C. have yet to be named publicly. But the attempted murderer was identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national here on an asylum claim.
His name is interesting. It is composed of two elements. The first is Rahim, meaning mercy. The second is Allah. The name thus means “Mercy of Allah.” An asylum seeker with that name thought it his duty to shoot two of his hosts. The lesson we can draw from this is too obvious to state, and too bitter to contemplate.
