“I’m Like You” – Not

Gavin Newsom, Governor of California and presidential hopeful, tells a predominantly Black audience he is like them because he got 960 on the SAT. He claims to have severe dyslexia. That is, according to Newsom, a healthy Black young person preforms at the level of a disabled White young person. If this is not racism at its most obvious, I don’t know what is.

Newsom comes from a wealthy family, one allied with the even wealthier Brown and Getty families. So no, he is not anything like his minority audience. And when a reporter asked for documentation of Newsom’s dyslexia diagnosis. his team told her to “fu*ck off.” Don’t know whether to laugh or cry. But do know how to vote.
