Trump Hasn’t Changed, We Have

In 1979 Iranian revolutionaries overthrew the U.S. backed shah and installed an Islamist regime. They seized our embassy in Tehran, legally an act of war. They held hostage 52 U.S. diplomats, employees, and Marines for 444 days, while Jimmy Carter dithered and went from weak to weaker. The hostages were released the day Ronald Reagan took office.

Here is Donald Trump in 1980, then a private citizen, describing what he would do about the situation. As he just demonstrated, Trump is a man of his word. He was a lot younger in 1980, but his fundamental outlook has not changed at all.
