“Arizona State Dean: Grading Writing Based On Quality Is ‘Racist,’ Promotes ‘White Language Supremacy.”
Idiotic actions like this one are intended to aid minorities, or so we are told, But in fact they harm minorities. If young people can’t write or speak standard English, how will they be hired for well-paying jobs – or even low-paying jobs?
If we intended to cripple young people, especially minorities, and adversely affect their whole lives, what would we do differently? Nothing. We would allow them to use substandard English. We would teach them that math problems have no correct answers. We would indoctrinate them that to claim otherwise is to promote racism and white supremacy.
It is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Those who damage young people’s ability to get good jobs and support families may – or may not – have good intentions. So what? The damage they do is just as serious.
Is using standard English “white supremacy”? Is using geometry “Greek supremacy”? Is taking the Salk vaccine “Jewish supremacy”? Is eating pizza “Italian supremacy”? What utter drivel!
