In a free country, if the people tire of the government, they change the government. In an unfree country, if the government tires of the people, it changes the people. We see this at the border, where tens of thousands – some flying flags of foreign nations – enter illegally with no fear that they will be deported. And most of them will vote Democrat when they become citizens, or even before. Of course, if crowds of Eastern Europeans arrived, they would be promptly deported. They tend to vote Republican.
But we also see this phenomenon within the US. Unhappy people leave Democrat-run states – with their high unemployment, high crime, and high homelessness – and move to Republican-run states. But they bring their leftist voting habits with them. We see Virginia, New Hampshire, Vermont, and other red states turning blue. Even Texas is at risk of becoming purple. Unlike international immigration, which requires the federal government to open the border, this movement within the nation takes care of itself. Blue states become unlivable and people leave.
I can’t speak for others. But as for me, being replaced – and seeing my vote diluted – is not what I signed up for.
