Psaki: Abraham Accords Just “Tactics”

Asked about the historic Abraham Accords, which brought recognition between Israel and Bahrain, UAE, Morocco, and Sudan with other Arab nations about to join, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said:

“We are not following the tactics of the prior administration. Aside from putting together a peace proposal that was dead on arrival, we don’t think they did anything constructive to really bring an end to the longstanding conflict in the Middle East.”

So there you have it. Under Trump, mainly peace and a historic agreement. Under Biden, the worst outbreak of violence in decades. But it was Trump’s “tactics” that failed. Really?

Under Trump, a pro-Israel policy did not result in violent protests by Palestinians, because Trump was seen as strong. Virtually no violence ensued when Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem. But under Biden, a pro-Arab policy results in violence, because Biden is seen as weak.

No, Jen, the Abraham Accords weren’t just “tactics.” They were foreign policy – you know, what the president is paid to conduct. As Bin Laden reminded us, when people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature they will prefer the strong horse. But as Bin Laden felt it unnecessary to say, people will prefer a strong horse to one ready to be put out to pasture.
