The signers range from one to four stars. To get so many strong-minded individuals to agree on anything, much less anything very controversial, says a great deal. Moreover, the decision to withdraw in this precipitous fashion was said to be unanimous at the Pentagon. If this is true, perhaps many more top officers should put in their papers.
It is said that victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan. More accurately, defeat is a bastard – no one will admit paternity. What we need is a DNA test. We need to discover who has been advocating that our armed forces become woke rather than combat effective. And then we need to discover who has remained silent and let them do it.
Effective armed forces are not optional accessories for a nation. They are essential for its survival. We must ask ourselves whether those who ignore this fundamental fact actually care about our nation’s survival. With the anti-American drivel being taught in our schools and universities, and with the kneeling on our sports fields, we can no longer assume that even our military officers understand what their job is, or where their loyalties lie.
