President Obama sent the Iranian regime billions in cash loaded on pallets. Did this make the ayatollahs more amenable to inspections of their nuclear facilities? Did it make America look strong in the world’s eyes?
President Biden withdrew all our troops from Afghanistan in a rushed, chaotic debacle that cost 13 US lives and left hundreds of Americans stranded as hostages. Did that make the Taliban more humane as they beheaded a star player on the women’s junior volleyball team? Did it make America look strong in the world’s eyes? Specifically, how did it look to the Chinese Communist regime?
President of Taiwan says US forces are on the ground in Taiwan to help defend against an attack from mainland China. The Biden administration intends to deter Chinese aggression. But what if, because of its demonstrated weakness, it is unable to deter anything at all?
The line through these three points is perfectly straight. What the next point on the line may be is too frightening to contemplate. Weakness encourages bullies, it never mollifies them. And you really don’t want to encourage a bully who has the largest army in the world, as well as nukes and the missiles to deliver them. If Biden – or whoever is actually pulling the strings – is wrecking the US economy, that’s bad enough. But bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war? How far would progressives go to further their agenda? How far have they already gone?
