Public Health Must Regain Our Trust

By | February 24, 2023 | 0 Comments

When Hitler took power, German medical students no longer took the Hippocratic Oath, but an oath to the German people as a group, not to individual patients. This is an extreme example of “public” health. The risk is that once we see not individual human beings but merely members of groups, we’re in trouble.

Lockdowns of family businesses but not big-box stores, school closures, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, booster mandates, can’t visit dying relatives in hospitals, can’t visit elderly in nursing homes. And now the virtual ignoring of the people of East Palestine, Ohio. Public health officials have a long way to go to regain our trust. And they haven’t even started.
