A French Muslim woman “joked” about seasoning a barbecued Jewish baby. I reproduce the story for fear of losing control if I paraphrase it:

Who says Muslims don’t have a sense of humor? In France, Warda Anwar posted a video on Instagram in which she discussed the Israeli baby baked alive by Hamas murderers at Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7. Did the “cook” use salt, pepper, a bit of thyme, she wondered, and “what fat did they roast it in?” And what were the side dishes that accompanied the main dish — the traditional pommes frites, with ketchup and mayonnaise as condiments, or something else?

But this is nothing new. During the Nazi era, the Germans sold bars of soap made of what was called “genuine Jew Fat” or echte Judenfett.

It remains controversial whether actual fat dripping from the crematorium at Auschwitz was used. Or was this a grisly joke, which enabled Nazis to boast that they were using soap make from echte Judenfett?

I never thought that in my lifetime, I would for a second time hear about “What fat did they roast it in?” Man, was I wrong. As the kid in “Poltergeist II” said, “They’re baaaack!” Now the only remaining question is: What are we going to do about it, before it is no longer grisly joke but a real threat? Doing nothing didn’t work out too well last time, so I suggest a more vigorous approach.
