Last night I watched “Chicago Fire,” and saw an episode about arson. Today I read a column by Victor Davis Hanson, describing the current wave of anarchy and nihilism. The connection is unavoidable. The leftists who pull down the statues of both Lee and Grant, the university presidents who are unwilling to admit that genocide of Jews is bad, and the so-called liberals who stand by idly and watch them do it – what are they fundamentally?
They are arsonists, firebugs. The get pleasure, perhaps even sexual pleasure, out of destroying things, then watching people run around trying vainly to preserve things they hold dear. I believe we have spent too much time in the department of political science, and too little time in the department of psychology. Progressivism, especially its destructive aspect, is a form of pyromania.
How else can we explain that the presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Penn have been rendered unable to state publicly that mass murder of Jews is bad? Not bad in some contexts. Just plain bad. World War II was the greatest catastrophe that the human race has thus far brought upon itself. And these tier one idiots are unwilling to reject its founding ideology.
Pull the fire alarm. Call the arson squad. Our beautiful city is in danger.
