I know a very bright high school senior who is applying to various universities. He is interested in computer science and, among others, applied to MIT. However, he was just rejected. So here is the situation:
• He is a Jew, that is, a member of the group that the president of MIT needs “context” in order to decide whether discussion of genocide of that group would be allowed on campus or considered harassment.
• Despite being a member of the least favored group, a group so disfavored that advocating its extermination may be allowed, when it comes to admissions he is considered “White,” again the least favored group but in the other direction. Jews are “Jews” when it comes to homicide, but “White” when it comes to admissions.
• That is, it’s okay to talk about killing you, but we still won’t admit you.
• All his life his parents paid taxes, a portion of which went to grants and student loans for MIT, whose president cannot unequivocally condemn wiping out their entire ethnic group. This is reminiscent of China billing the family for the cartridge used to execute a dissident.
• In the 1930s and 1940s, German and Austrian universities taught genocidal anti-Semitism and expelled Jewish students and professors. But to see American universities begin to emulate their horrible example is too painful to contemplate.
