Is Global Warming A Religion?

A very bright high school student asked us, with great sincerity, “You do believe in global warming?” It was exactly the same as if he were a Catholic school student and asked, “You do believe in the Holy Trinity?” or a Hebrew school student and asked, “You do believe in the Torah?”

Note the word “believe.” No one asks, “You do believe in the Inverse Square Law?” or “You do believe in the quadratic equation?” Belief has nothing to do with science. Therefore consensus has nothing to do with science, either. Even if it were true that the great majority of climate scientists believe that human-made carbon dioxide is causing dangerous global warming, who cares? Either it is true or it is not.  Until Galileo and Copernicus, the great majority of scientists believed that the sun revolves around the earth. It doesn’t.
