Report: Biden Signs $1.2 Trillion Spending Bill.
Only a few years ago, if you wanted to find the word “trillion,” you would have to read about astronomy, or perhaps science fiction. 1.2 trillion is an unimaginable amount, literally. In order to help imagine it, I resorted to Dr. Google, who can help us imagine anything at all. This is what I found:
That is one trillion dollar bills. If you laid them end to end, they would reach farther than from the earth to the sun. Or so I am told. I still can’t picture $1.2 trillion in spending. It’s still just words. Our minds just can’t grasp astronomical sums.
But we can grasp the results, all too easily: inflation. The more the feds print money based on nothing at all, the less each dollar is worth. To partially conceal the decreased value of our dollars, the size and quality of items are reduced. Tiny muffins disappear into the toaster and must be pried out with a fork, which is an unsafe way to use an electric appliance. The steel of car fenders is so thin that I can dent it with the palm of my hand, and not even get a bruise. (I know, I did it.) And if you looked up “inflation” in the dictionary, this is the illustration you should see. It perfectly depicts the effects of trillion-dollar spending. And when you put your fingers through it, I think you will agree.
