Most of us understand monetary inflation. The government creates more money out of nothing, either by printing it or by pressing keys on a computer. And by doing so, the government picks your pocket. Your dollars are worth less, in proportion to how many new dollars were created out of thin air.

But this principle applies elsewhere as well – to citizenship, for example. Leftists in major cities are proposing that non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, will be able to vote in local elections. And of course, eventually in federal elections as well.

This represents gifting illegal aliens with goodies they did nothing to earn. But like creating money, it also represents diluting the total supply. In the last presidential election, there were 6,145,215 registered voters in Los Angeles County. So if they all voted, my vote would count for one 6 millionth of the total. I’m hardly a power player. But if you added a million non-citizen voters – both legal and illegal – my influence on government would be even less.

So there you have it: Reward the unproductive, punish the productive, dilute the value of citizenship until it becomes indistinguishable from non-citizenship. turn everything and everyone into a vague, indistinguishable gray. No more bright reds, whites, and blues. Just glum socialist gray. But we’ll all be equal in our grayness.
