So-called students at Columbia University demonstrations, many of whom barely finished high school, declare that they are not pro-Hamas, just anti-Israel. Well, let’s see. There are 193 members of the UN. There is one Jewish member. And of all the 193, that is the only one they find illegitimate and want to see obliterated. Now what does that tell you?

Do they object to nations beginning with “I”? No, they have no quarrel with Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, or Italy. Do they oppose small nations? No, they have no problem with Vatican City, Monaco, Nauru, or Tuvalu. Do they oppose nations that occupied territory formerly held by other nations or peoples? No, that would include virtually every nation on earth.

So what, exactly, is there about Israel that they find so objectionable? Do you suppose, just possibly, that it is the only Jewish nation? Naw, it couldn’t be that. History shows that Jews have been universally liked and favored. The Holocaust? Pogroms? Expulsions? Forced conversions? Autos da fé?

Oh no, there must be something else about Israel. It must be that nasty Netanyahu, contemptuously called “Bibi.” Israel was universally loved when it was led by Golda Meir or Shimon Peres, for example. Oh wait, it wasn’t? Never mind.

Well, I’ll just keep trying. Maybe I’ll be able to discover just what it is about Israel that evokes their hatred. So far it’s a complete mystery.
