Judge Relents, Allows Trump To Attend Son’s Graduation.

Stop a minute and consider that breaking news item. Consider who is Donald J. Trump. A former president, yes, and as such entitled to respect. The leading Republican candidate for president in the 2024 election – what in many countries is called the Leader of the Opposition – and as such entitled to the widest possible freedom to travel, campaign, and express his views.

Instead, what do we see? We see Trump fined for violating the judge’s gag order. Say what? A lower-level state judge can order a leading presidential candidate to shut up? And how, exactly, is a political campaign to go ahead if a leading candidate can be ordered to shut up?

And we see the candidate reduced to begging permission to attend his son’s high school graduation, as if he were a convict in prison begging for special consideration. How, exactly, do you suppose this looks to Putin, Xi, or the ayatollahs? And if we look weak and disorganized to our potential enemies, and also to our allies, do you suppose the risk of war goes up or down? Yes, you got it, up.

I surely hope the partisan fools who arranged this tragic farce are satisfied with themselves. They succeeded in making a real mess. No doubt they are already packing the trunks of their cars with Biden ballots for November. With the shenanigans they are involved in, they are going to need armloads of those ballots.
