Leftists who claim to favor academic freedom, and Hamas supporters who claim to favor free speech, want us to allow the demonstrators to continue to disrupt classes, shout down speakers, and block access to campuses. Across the country from Columbia, where my father went, to UCLA, where my wife went, campuses are literally under siege.

To make clear what these people mean by “freedom or speech” or “academic freedom,” I present this recent video from UCLA.

“Freedom of speech” means we get to say what we want and do what we want, but you don’t even get on the campus, much less be heard when you speak. These people are obnoxious totalitarians at best, and dangerous racists at worst. Avoid them, restrict their power, and get them off the campus while the university still exists in recognizable form. Their Nazi forbears wrecked German and Austrian universities in the 1930s, and their anti-Semitic so-called pro-Palestinians will do the same here if we let them.
