At UCLA keffiyeh-clad demonstrators physically blocked a Jewish student from entering the campus, while police were notable by their absence. But here at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Jewish student is blocked, but eventually police, including some high-ranking officers, escort him in.

Note to leftists, whether they wear tee shirts or keffiyehs: Order is not the opposite of freedom, it is a prerequisite for freedom. It is not “freedom” when the biggest bullies force others to do what they say. I thought you knew that. Every kid learns it in the schoolyard. The other kids need someone in charge to restrain the bullies, whether it is a teacher serving as monitor or the MIT Police.

Someone must be in charge, either the bullies or a cop with stars on his shoulders and scrambled eggs on his cap visor. I can’t speak for you, but I prefer the cop.

Note that the MIT Police lost one of their number in the line of duty during the Boston Marathon massacre. That gives them the right to speak on behalf of freedom, and it gives us the obligation to listen. They are willing to die for freedom. What are we willing to do?
