President Bukele of El Salvador turned his nation from the most violent in Latin America into one of the safest. But he has equally valuable lessons for us. In paraphrase:

• Who elected George Soros to dictate the law?
• We must resist the dark forces that are trying to control us.
• Don’t lecture us on democracy. We don’t jail opposition leaders.

This guy has both a brain and a heart, a rare combination in politicians. But Bukele didn’t roll into town in a tank and seize power. The people elected him. May we be as wise as El Salvador in our choice of leaders..

That last quote should make us blush in shame.
