In the Soviet Union, the official newspaper was named Pravda, “Truth.” It was not that people expected the paper to tell the truth. Far from it. Rather, whatever the government said in the paper was the truth, just because they said it.

Thus when Stalin declared there was a record wheat harvest, people nodded their heads in approval, despite having to stand in line for hours to get a loaf of bread. You didn’t question what the government said, if you hoped to remain on this side of the flower bed.

Same thing here:
• Trump wasn’t shot, it was faked, blood was ketchup from a Big Mac.
• Kamala wasn’t border czar, open border chaos, drug and human trafficking are not her responsibility.

The point is not that people will believe these lies. Everyone with an IQ above that of broccoli knows they are lies. The point, as it was with Stalin, is that people will pretend to believe. The point is that they will sell their minds as well as their souls.
