At what point do incompetence and stupidity merge into malice and criminality? Yes, the Secret Service is about 450 special agents short. But what about the agents we already have? Are they as qualified and motivated as before?
The detail guarding Trump repeatedly asked for more personnel and equipment. They were repeatedly denied. Do you suppose, just possibly, that this gave the agents the idea that guarding Trump was not a high priority for Secret Service management? The words “demoralize” and “disincentivize” come to mind. Not to mention the words “sedition,” “mutiny,” and “conspiracy to commit murder.”
But, you protest, it should be “conspiracy to attempt murder.” Forgot about Corey Comparatore, did you? No, I meant “conspiracy to commit murder.” Oh, by the way, the feds have a death penalty. Food for thought.
