Secret Service Was “Covering The Rooftop” – With What?

Secret Service claimed it was covering rooftop where gunman shot at Trump in Butler: Whistleblower

There are two possibilities for the Secret Service:

  1. We knew we were obligated to cover that rooftop, which had a direct line of sight to the podium where Trump was about to speak. But we failed to do so. This was our fatal error. We offer our profound apologies to the family of Corey Comparatore, and to the three survivors of gunshots, including former President Trump.
    .
  2. We were covering the rooftop, so we owe no apologies to anyone, least of all to Trump, that “danger to democracy.” Of course, “covering the rooftop” does not mean actually arresting the rifle-toting would-be assassin who was up there, or having a counter-sniper take him out before he hit four people with rifle fire, not after. It merely means covering the rooftop with our good intentions, assuming you could find any.
    .

I wish I could think of something pleasant to say, but I can’t. What I do have to say isn’t printable in a family-style post. It would make a Marine master gunnery sergeant blush.
