Anti-Semitic Incidents Rise Since Oct. 7 Hamas Attack

One would have expected – well, hoped – that since Oct. 7, 2023, anti-Semitic outbursts would have fallen dramatically, and pro-Israel demonstrations would have occurred on many campuses.

About 1200 Jews and others were killed, the most deaths in one day since the Holocaust. Men, women, children, even babies were beheaded or killed in other gruesome ways. Women and girls were gang raped. If that didn’t evoke pro-Israel sentiment, what would? And sadly, the answer is: nothing.

Before he was killed, Nasrallah, the head of Hamas, declared that he hoped Israel would gather all the 15 million Jews in the world together in one place, so he could kill them with one blow. How do you achieve a compromise with someone who wants you dead? You can’t.

The late Prime Minister Golda Meir said it best: “To be or not to be is not a question of compromise. Either you be or you don’t be.” The underlying message of the campus anti-Semitic demonstrations is that Jews don’t be. The sooner we recognize that as genocidal hatred, the sooner we can deal with the hatred effectively.

Hitler was rarely photographed smiling. He was not a smiley kind of guy. But the events of Oct. 7 would have made him smile. That thought should give us pause.

Who are we? What are we? Why were we put on this Earth? To tolerate actions that would make a homicidal maniac smile?
