Years ago, General Motors made an unimpressive compact car called the Chevy Nova. The company intended the name to suggest that the design was new. But the car’s sales were underwhelming, and it was eventually discontinued. Disappointing sales in Latin America were attributed to the fact that in Spanish, no va means “Doesn’t go.”
Similarly, Kamala Harris’s first name in Spanish sounds like quĂ© mala, which means “How bad” or “You’re awful.” Just sayin’.
