Bites from small rodents such as squirrels are not reportable to the Health Department, because they do not spread disease to humans. Squirrels rarely are infected with rabies, and there is no known human case of rabies transmitted from a squirrel. Raccoons, however, can transmit rabies.
Dog bites, of course, are well known to be associated with rabies. You know, like President Biden’s German shepherd with over 24 bite incidents. Thus far, they haven’t raided the White House and killed the dog. But who knows? Unpredictability is a mark of a tyrannical regime: Keep people guessing, keep them in line.
Killing peanut was both cruel and unreasonable. But that’s the point, isn’t it? Doing things that are cruel and unreasonable serves to frighten and intimidate the people, thus keeping them obedient to the regime.
