L.A. Times Fires Whole Editorial Board

The Los Angeles Times used to be a newspaper, not a propaganda sheet. It was liberal, not leftist. Once a week it published a page headed “Column Left, Column Right,” The conservative columnist was an actual conservative, for example, Dennis Prager. The paper was held to a modicum of honesty by its competitor, the conservative Herald Examiner.

But that paper is long gone, and so is “Column Left, Column Right.” The Times is strictly on the left now. And even in deep blue Los Angeles, being on the far left means being left behind by the conservative train (pun intended).

A real leader, as well as a real journalist, keeps his (or her) head on a swivel, constantly checking to see that people are still following. When we say, “Check six,” we mean not only look for enemies coming up behind you. It also means be sure your followers are still following. The current L.A. Times editorial board pushed in all their chips for “Trump is a fascist, Harris is our savior.” That pleased its leftist base, but attracted no new subscribers.

Why pay good money to hear the identical opinions you can get free on virtually all newspapers from the New York Times on down (or up, depending on your point of view). Why create extra trash to read the identical opinions you get on MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NPR, etc., etc. No, the L.A. Times owners understand that this is the road to bankruptcy, for a newspaper as well as for a nation.
