United Healthcare is the largest private healthcare insurer in America. Brian Thompson, the CEO, was shot multiple times by a black-clad man lying in wait outside his Manhattan hotel this morning. Thompson was attending a business meeting, and the attack was apparently targeted. He was taken to the hospital unresponsive and pronounced dead.
Any ideas regarding a possible motive is speculation. But one must admit that some bureaucratic bigwigs – both in the corporate world and in government – may be having second thoughts about how they treat their employees and customers. Some people have long memories.
