Where Will The Nerve Gas Wind Up?
What are you? No, really, what are you? My mother had been a high school teacher. All her life, her greatest satisfaction was from teaching someone to do something new. Catholics believe that taking holy orders – becoming a priest – makes an indelible mark on your soul.
I believe other things do so as well. I believe taking the Hippocratic Oath at medical school graduation did that to me. I believe being sworn in as a New York City cop did that to Dan Bongino. When news broke that rebels had forced Syrian dictator Assad to flee to Russia, most commentators rejoiced. A few thoughtful ones wondered whether those who take over will be even more homicidal.
But to my knowledge, only Bongino worried, “Assad had Sarin nerve gas – will it wind up in Times Square?” Still trying to protect New Yorkers. Still trying to protect Americans. Yes, I believe it did leave a mark.
I believe Donald Trump has a similar mark. A big one. Where it originated I do not know. But I believe it was emphasized when he took the oath as president, and engraved more deeply by that bullet at Butler, Pennsylvania. But then, I’ve always been a romantic. What do I know?
