Drones Over New Jersey? Say What?
•
If a bunch of flying objects, not otherwise identifiable, is flying over the United States, my suggestion is this:
1) Identify them and reassure the people, and their elected representatives, that there is nothing to worry about, because we know they are harmless. Or if this is impossible,
2) Shoot them down. That way we can know they are now harmless.
We used to call it the War Department. That name makes things crystal clear. But now we are more sensitive, and we call if the Defense Department. Recently a Chinese spy balloon was allowed to fly completely across the United States from West to East. Now we have the New Jersey drones. So if it is indeed the Defense Department, why isn’t it defending us?
Under Sec. 113 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), abandoning your post or sleeping on guard duty is subject to the death penalty in wartime. If a soldier falls asleep on guard duty, we punish him severely. If a general falls asleep at his duties, we promote him. Go figure.
