Remember how critics pointed out that the documents were moved there from the White House when Trump was still president? Remember how the president has the power to declassify material whenever he wishes? Therefore a sitting president cannot by definition mishandle classified documents.

But remember how the FBI rummaged through Melania’s underwear drawer? What did they hope to find there? Plans for a nuclear bomb? Remember how the FBI strewed documents over the floor, then published a photo of them, to create the false impression that Trump had strewed them there so carelessly? Manufacturing evidence? Who, us?

The case against Trump was dismissed. But his valet and property manager were also charged with mishandling documents. That case was just dismissed as well. The classified documents case thus fades into history, along with other second-rate works of detective fiction that nobody looks at any more.
