Yes, we get it. It couldn’t be more clear. The people have spoken, and their elected representative is busy doing precisely what he said he would do.
It’s not just these 11 items that leftists object to so strenuously. No, their chief stumbling block is “the people have spoken.” From Marx until today, leftists have held the people in deep contempt.
Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union – that socialist paradise – referred to the peasants as “cattle.” Stalin, his successor, took this to heart and treated the common people like cattle, complete with pens and slaughterhouses.
So when we say “the people have spoken,” we are merely stating a fact. But to leftists, this is a mortal insult. What? The common people are equal to us? You fail to recognize our superiority? WE decide what is best for them, and then cram it down their throats.
• Males in women’s locker rooms? Why not? Feminine modesty is so “bourgeois.”
• Males in women’s sports? Why not? Socialism taught non-discrimination long before DEI was invented.
• Kids forced into public schools that leave many of them illiterate and innumerate? Why not? They’ll be dependent on government aid all their lives.
• School choice? How dare you? That implies that parents, not bureaucrats, are responsible for their kids’ upbringing.
And so it goes. It’s not Trump’s specific programs they find frightening. It’s that the “cattle” have a say in their own government.
And when they say “cattle,” this is what they mean:
