Tariffs Produce Results Even Before Going Into Effect

Report: Trump gives big three auto makers a one-month reprieve from increased tariffs from Canada and Mexico. This was in return for concessions, apparently including moving more manufacturing to the US. In addition, Trump’s conversations with Mexican President Sheinbaum  led to a one-month suspension of tariffs for Mexican goods, apparently in return for Mexico’s cooperation in border control.

The bottom line: Insoluble problems can be solved promptly, depending on who is doing the solving, and how hard he or she wants to solve them.
