Columbia Loses $400M Because Of Antisemitism, Or Is It Anti-Semitism?

There is something universal about anti-Semitism. Like beige, it goes with everything: Left or Right, religious or atheist, communist or capitalist.

The very word is revealing. We have anti-American and anti-British. We have anti-Christian and anti-Muslim. But according to the AP Style Manual, we have antisemitic and antisemitism. Why is -semitic not worthy of a capital letter? If I type anti-Semitic as I was taught years ago, Word flags it as misspelled. Odd how those things work.

A small point? Perhaps. But not a minor one. Columbia University is losing $400M in federal grants and contracts because it did not protect Jewish (not Israeli, Jewish) students from anti-Semitic rioters. And yes, Semitic is worth a capital letter.
