“Governor Hot Wheels”

It wasn’t enough that Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D,TX) declared that MAGA people should be “punched.” It wasn’t enough that she proclaimed that Senator Ted Cruz (R,TX) should be “hit in the head, like hard.” No, those incitements to violence weren’t enough. Now she refers to Governor Greg Abbott (R,TX) as “Governor Hot Wheels.”

Abbott has been in a wheelchair since an accident rendered him paraplegic. It is bad enough to make fun of a person in a wheelchair. This shows a heartlessness that would shame a guard in an Iranian prison. It is even worse to make this disgusting remark in public and on the record, where decent people could overhear it. This shows stupidity and lack of judgment.

Will the honorable representative be censured, much less expelled from Congress? Of course not. She’s a Democrat, “one of us.” But her continued presence in Congress does serve to remind us of the qualities needed for leadership in today’s Democratic Party: heartlessness, stupidity, and bad judgment. The party of Franklin Roosevelt and Jack Kennedy? No more. Might as well hold services, because it’s really most sincerely dead.
