Obama-Appointed Judge Orders Trump Administration to Return Alleged MS-13 Gang Member Back to the U.S.

If you are progressive enough, this seems perfectly natural. Any one of the 677 federal district judges, the lowest level of federal judge, can order a plane carrying deportees to turn around over international waters. That is, the President has no right to deport them, but any one of the 677 judges has the right to order them brought back.

In other words, the power of any one of the 677 federal judges extends beyond the parties before him in the courtroom, extends beyond his district to the entire nation, and extends beyond our borders to other nations – in this case El Salvador. And if Elon Musk reaches Mars, no doubt the judge’s power extends to other planets as well.

This is not jurisprudence, it is megalomania. It is to be found not in textbooks of law, but in textbooks of psychiatry. We have heard of gender identity disorder, in which a boy thinks he is a girl, and vice versa. This is divine identity disorder, in which a human being thinks he is God. But he couldn’t be more wrong.
