I am not a Catholic. But I needed to read this article regarding the Vatican’s backtracking on the issue of puberty blockers, mastectomy, and castration as treatment for gender dysphoria. You need not agree with it. In fact it may offend you.
But the basic questions remain: Who is converting whom? Who is influencing the other’s belief system more than vice versa? If mutilating young people is permissible, what if anything is forbidden? If enabling the delusion of gender transformation is praiseworthy, what delusion is so far out that we should not foster and encourage it?
In short, at what point are we permitted, even obligated, to say a loud NO! Even if we are speaking to someone in clerical robes. Maybe especially if we are speaking to someone in clerical robes.
