“Hack” Would Be Proud

D.W. Wilber on Townhall remembers the late Col. David Hackworth. “Hack” had more medals than you could count. They don’t give away 2 Distinguished Service Crosses and 10 (ten) Silver Stars in boxes of Crackerjack. But he was respected not only for his bravery but also for his advocacy of the ordinary soldier as opposed to the “perfumed princes of the Pentagon.”

Example: At the end of World War II with 12 million troops under arms, we had 7 four-star generals, but now we have 44. To call this “top heavy” is an insult to Mr. Potato Head. With Trump and Hegseth in charge, we expect more emphasis on war fighting and war fighters. At least we can hope.

I once talked with “Hack” on a radio talk show. He was even more humble and unassuming than I expected. D.W. Wilber thinks “Hack” would be proud of current developments. That is high praise indeed.
