RFK Jr. Isn’t A Physician – So What?

Critics repeat ad nauseam that RFK Jr. isn’t a physician. So what? Therefore he has no right to comment on medical issues? Isn’t the question, is he correct, not what degrees does he hold?

• Truth does not become more true if the whole world were to accept it; nor does it become less true if the whole world were to reject it. − Maimonides, philosopher and physician

• Let’s be clear: The work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right…The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. – Michael Crichton, author and graduate of Harvard Medical School

Louis Pasteur was one of the greatest medical scientists of all time. But when he announced that many infectious diseases are caused by bacteria, he was ridiculed because he had a PhD, not an MD.

Ignaz Semmelweis told physicians to wash their hands when going from the autopsy room to the delivery room. He was an MD, but he too was ridiculed, and ultimately sent to a mental hospital.

RFK  Jr. was trained as a lawyer. But so what? Suppose he were a high school dropout. Or suppose he were the dean of Harvard Medical School. Either he is correct about the risks of vaccination, or he is incorrect. Let us stop arguing about irrelevant details, and focus on the crucial issue before us.
