School Police Assaulted
San Bernardino, California: High school girls get into a fight. Two school police officers arrive in car, one female, one male. (Until a few years ago, all I needed to say was one female.) Officers attempt to break up fight, but are attacked by female students. (Well, at least they claim to be students.) Female officer is pulled a distance backward by her hair. The hair was in a bun, but this did not help her.
The video ends before help arrives and multiple students are taken away in handcuffs. But they were probably charged as juveniles and released to their parents. If they were adults, they could be charged with a misdemeanor and be subject to a year in jail and a $2000 fine. But in my opinion, assault on a first responder should always be a felony.
Note that the officers in this case did not carry billy clubs, now called batons. They may have carried Tasers but did not deploy them. They did, however, carry handguns. But the students showed not the slightest fear in assaulting them. Back where I come from, we were very careful not to irritate anyone carrying a gun, whether he or she was a peace officer or an armed citizen. It was not conducive to a long, healthy life.
Don’t tell me about urban schools. I went through primary school, junior high, and high school in San Francisco public schools. There were no school police, and I never saw an SFPD officer on campus, not once. Discipline was enforced by teachers and coaches, with threats to send us to the principal’s office.
That is, rules were largely self-enforced. What has changed? Most kids then grew up in two-parent homes. Divorce was infrequent, and single mothers were rare. Now many kids grow up without a male authority figure. No father at home, no Father in Heaven. Just “Let’s go assault a cop. Why not? Let’s drag her by the hair. The most we’ll get is a suspended juvie sentence.”
If you think the girls in this video will make stable wives and mothers, you’re crazy. If you think a school can teach math, English, and history with kids like this in the class, you’re even crazier. If you think young people like this will make productive citizens of a constitutional republic, you need to be committed – you’re a danger to yourself and others.
