Our Spectrum internet and landline phone has been down in Los Angeles for 13 hours. ATT internet is up, but so slow that to compare it to a donkey cart is an insult to jackasses the world over.

Many people are elderly or disabled, or both. Cell phones are questionable in hilly areas or concrete buildings. Rumor is that the Spectrum outage is due to vandalism. Correction: terrorism. Removing access to phones and email should get you a life sentence. It can be lethal to the vulnerable.

Add to this blocking streets to emergency vehicles, and you get a perfect storm. This is the first world, not the third. No one should have to rely on yelling out the window to get help. You want to be careful how angry you make people. Blocking elderly relatives from calling for help can make people really, really angry.
