“Go To A Neutral Corner”
Social media are filled to overflowing with videos of brawls in Waffle Houses, IHOPs, Dennys, and many other locales. Almost invariably, if one man or woman goes down, others pile on, hitting and kicking the fallen victim, often in the head. Permanent brain injury can result. If we don’t want a nation of chronic traumatic encephalopathy victims, we should do something…now.
When I was a kid, we watched football and boxing, two rough sports. But they were conducted under strict rules. When a boxer was knocked down, his opponent was motioned to a neutral corner, where he had to remain until the referee ordered him to box.
As a result, in many cases, when two boys (almost never girls) got into a fight, when one went down, the other would stand there, or even take a step back, until the guy got up again. Piling onto a downed opponent was rarely seen. I believe this was a result of watching boxing, not MMA, which was not yet popular.
You enjoy MMA? More power to you. But understand that it is teaching young people lessons you may not want them to learn.
