French President Speaks, Does Anyone Listen?

French President Macron: “The American decision not to grant visas to Palestinian officials is unacceptable.”

Well now, monsieur le Président de la République, how’s that again? You decide what is acceptable in your country, assuming your own people still listen to you. But we decide what is acceptable in our country.

For example, during World War II, the French police gathered all the Jews of Paris together in the bicycle stadium, so they could be handed over to the Nazis and sent to death camps. Don’t believe me? Just look up “Vélodrome d’Hiver.” We would have considered that unacceptable, to say the least. But your nation accepted it. And your pro-Palestinian policies show that anti-Semitism is still alive and well in France.

So, monsieur le Président, please get your own house in order, before you presume to tell us what to do in ours. Oh yes, I almost forgot. You can thank us and the Brits that you are not speaking German. You might find the time in your busy schedule to visit an American or British military cemetery and say “Thank you.” Perhaps you would find that acceptable.
