Charlie Is Dead, Jimmy Is Back
Yes, the Charlie Kirk memorial service was incredible. Many among the huge crowd felt God’s presence. The speeches, especially those of Erika Kirk and Marco Rubio, were moving.
But now we’re back to normal, or what passes for normal these days. Charlie is still dead, while Jimmy Kimmel is back on TV. You know, the guy who compared Trump mourning for Charlie to a 4-year-old mourning for a goldfish. Belittling the murder of a political opponent comes awfully close to advocating it.
So where are we? Is this the spark that will ignite a religious revival? Or is the spark fizzling out? Feeling God’s presence at the memorial was one thing. Feeling His presence every day is quite another.
Did we really hear what Charlie was saying? Or are we listening to people like Jimmy, who hide their contempt and hate under a thin cloak of humor? Our choice. But we must choose. If we do not, the choice will be made for us.
This is a goldfish. But as I recall, a fish is also a religious symbol. I’m sure Charlie knows that. But I doubt that Jimmy does.
