Don’t Feed The Bears
During the recent government shut down, roughly 42 million families had their SNAP food assistance endangered. In itself, this is cruel. But it is also worrisome. How in the world did 42 million families become dependent on the government to feed them? In what sense is a nation like that still free? In what sense are people who depend on the government to feed them still citizens and not merely subjects?
President Reagan loved to tell stories. Some of them were boring. But some of them held a surprising amount of wisdom.
