What Is Wrong In One Picture

Some time ago, in a questionable decision, the U.S. Army scrapped the service cap and the overseas cap, and switched to berets. But they discovered that no U.S. manufacturer could produce the required amount, so they bought the berets from China.

If a nation cannot manufacture uniforms for its own army, or medicines for its own people, in what sense is it still a nation, and not merely a colony?

If I choose to buy a German or Japanese car, no problem, because I can still buy an American car. But if the clothing I want, or the medicines I need, are no longer produced domestically, what then? I no longer have a choice. To that degree, I am no longer free.

When President Trump talks about bringing manufacturing home, he is not just talking economics, he is talking freedom. If China decides to cut off sending us clothing, or India decides to cut off sending us medicines, what will we do? It takes months or years to set up manufacturing. But we won’t have months or years. We need to start yesterday.

“God created the world. Everything else is made in China.” – Senator John N. Kennedy
