The offender has a long rap sheet, including multiple arrests for assault, and one arrest for stabbing someone eight times. Why he was free to roam the streets of Seattle is not clear. The solution to the problem, however, is quite clear.

In the Social Contract, citizens give up the right to arm and protect themselves and their families, in return for which the state promises to protect them. The state has clearly reneged on its end of the bargain. The contract is thus void. Tell me where I am mistaken.
