Are We At A Crossroads?

In 1933 the world was at the depth of the Great Depression. Social unrest and economic distress were rampant. People wondered what would happen next.

On January 30 Germany appointed Adolf Hitler as chancellor (prime minister). On March 4 America inaugurated Franklin Roosevelt as president.

Only 12 years later in 1945, America had emerged as leader of the free world. We were rich, victorious, and honored. But Germany was impoverished, defeated, and disgraced. Its cities were in ruins, millions of its people were dead, and its name was stained for generations.

The Germans and Americans of 1933 knew they were in trouble, but they were unaware they were at a crucial crossroads that would determine their futures. We may be at such a crossroads. We will know only in retrospect, when it will be too late.

When you deluge social media like X with images of Hitler and pro-Nazi, anti-Semitic sewage, you are turning our national steering wheel in the same direction that Hitler turned Germany’s steering wheel. What in God’s name (literally) makes you think that your course will not lead to as great a disaster for our nation as Hitler’s did for his nation?
