Officer Sicknick died of natural causes, a stroke, as determined by the D.C. Medical Examiner. His family got whatever pension he had accumulated. Probably he was considered to have died in the line of duty, with whatever pension benefits that brings.

Ashli Babbitt died of homicide, shot in the neck by a Capitol Police officer. Her family is being recompensed for her wrongful death.
