Finally, Something To Make Us Smile
During my residency, I trained with a woman physician from Iran. She had graduated from the University of Shiraz. She wore Western clothes, spoke flawless English, and was an excellent teacher. But under the current Islamist regime, she would not have gone to a university and would be wearing a head scarf. What a waste that would have been.
Now, after all these years, the Iranian people, especially the women, will be free to join the 21st century. They can stay in the 7th century if they wish. It will be revelatory to see how many of them will choose to do so. My guess, it will be close to zero.
